Responsible Gambling
Gambling is not a way to earn money or a solution to money problems. You can lose money, and trying to win back losses can make the situation worse.
Signs gambling may be causing harm
Look for changes you can observe, rather than waiting for a particular label. These may include:
- spending more time or money gambling than you intended;
- trying to win back money you have lost, or increasing stakes to chase a win;
- borrowing, using money meant for bills, or selling belongings to gamble;
- hiding gambling or losses from people close to you;
- feeling restless or irritable when you try to stop;
- missing work, study, sleep or time with other people because of gambling;
- continuing to gamble despite arguments, financial problems or other consequences.
If any of these apply, take a practical step now: stop gambling for the moment, avoid adding funds, and tell someone you trust what is happening. If you feel at immediate risk of harming yourself or someone else, seek urgent help through local emergency services.

Tools to limit or stop gambling
UK-licensed casinos must provide responsible gambling tools, including self-exclusion. Self-exclusion blocks your access to gambling with the operator for a chosen period; check the operator’s terms for how it works and what it covers. It does not necessarily block access to other operators.
Remote operators must prompt new customers to set a financial limit before their first deposit and provide accessible controls to manage account limits. Use the account controls to set or lower a limit, or ask the operator how to restrict your account. Limits may control spending, but they do not make gambling profitable or remove the risk of loss.
Other rules affect how gambling is offered. Online slot autoplay is banned in Britain, and at least 2.5 seconds must pass before another online slot game cycle can begin. The total stake in an online slots game cycle must not exceed £2 if you are under 25, or £5 if you are 25 or older. Remote operators cannot accept credit-card payments for gambling, including credit-card funding routed through a money service business. They also cannot accept wallet payments where credit-card funds can be used for gambling. These restrictions are not a substitute for setting limits or stopping.
Where to turn
For help right now, use the responsible gambling or account controls in the casino where you have an account. If you cannot find them, contact that operator through its own account help or support route and ask how to set a limit, close or restrict the account, or self-exclude. UKGC licensees must offer an internal complaints process and access to an approved Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service if you have a complaint about the operator.
No verified gambling-support organisation names, addresses or phone numbers were available for this page. A contact should not be guessed: use the operator’s own support route, or ask a trusted person to help you find a suitable service. If money problems are part of the situation, avoid borrowing to gamble or trying to recover losses through further play.
Age and checking an operator
Operators must verify a customer’s age before allowing them to deposit funds into a gambling account. The verified information available for this page does not specify the legal age threshold, so check the applicable rules before gambling rather than relying on an unverified claim.
If you want to check an operator, its gambling website or app must show details of its remote licence and link to the public register entry. A licence is not a guarantee that gambling is suitable for you or that you will avoid losses.
If gambling is no longer within limits you can keep, use the operator’s restrictions or self-exclusion rather than waiting for the situation to worsen.
